mainling, known as "shangri-la in the clouds," is a lovely county in nyingchi, southeast tibet. it's clean, beautiful, and provides a conducive environment for growing herbal medicine. one of the most precious remedies grown here is the fungus ganoderma lucidum, which is cultivated on a family farm visited by niuniu. the crop has also helped with the county's poverty alleviation.
