this year marks the 70th anniversary of the peaceful liberation of tibet. remarkable changes have taken place in tibet in the past decades.
the lhasa-nyingchi railway officially began operation on june 25, when trains passed through southeast tibet for the very first time.
it was also the first time that a fuxing bullet train — a train independently developed by china — transported passengers in tibet, marking the start of high-speed train services to all chinese mainland provincial-level regions.
with a length of 435 kilometers and a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour, this single-line electrified railway with nine stations passes through three cities: lhasa, shannan and nyingchi.
one month after the railway’s official opening, people’s daily reporter jieqiong went to tibet and experienced riding the fuxing bullet train on the qinghai-tibet plateau.
